Association Aktar is a humble association made up of a team of lovers of ethnic dances who wish to energize the Geneva cultural panorama and democratize it.
Their goal is to promote the arts and artists in French-speaking Switzerland and to forge links between the different artists. They focus particularly on non-academic arts as they often have more difficulty obtaining public subsidies to make themselves known and to access certain performance venues. The organisation’s second area of action concerns social projects related to dance.
Various artists from non-academic disciplines are invited to present their art – and on 12 June 2021, Omkara was invited to perform for their Extravadanza Day.
This edition of Extravadanza took place at the Mottattom-Federation for Mines: an old building with a lot of charm, in which a huge room is allocated for artists and craftsmen from Geneva and is used regularly for shows. It was beautifully converted into a dance space with excellent lighting and acoustics.
Artistic Director Sujatha Venkatesh and senior student Pritha Prasad had the pleasure of dancing to a very attentive and curious audience.
